I have been climbing on a personal level for over forty years having been privileged to have a super- keen climbing father who introduced me to my lifelong passion and career at the age of nine. Originally from Lancaster, Lancashire, I served my apprenticeship on the very same cliffs and mountains I now call home and where I offer many of my courses and guiding opportunities.

I have been involved in outdoor education, mountaineering instruction and mountain guiding for over thirty years. I hold the highest domestic UK award, the Winter Mountaineering & Climbing Instructor (WMCI) and the highest worldwide qualification for mountain guiding, the International Federation of Mountain Guides Association (IFMGA) Diploma. I am a full member of the British Association of Mountain Guides (BMG). Membership of a national association within the federation is a prerequisite of IFMGA Guide status and IFMGA Guides are accountable to their association for the upkeep of professional standards and operational currency.

My climbing and mountaineering CV, spanning as it does several decades, covers a vast array of adventures difficult to summarise here. I would much rather enthuse and regale you with these experiences on a climbing stance, ensconced in a warm mountain hut or with a pint of Lakeland ale after a great day together on the crags and fells.

I offer a service backed by levels of time-served experience, both recreationally and professionally, that you simply cannot attain in a short timescale and this knowledge and big picture overview is the added value that I offer to you as my client and climbing companion.
